Cingo Protective Column Wraps: What They Are

A Cingo Protective Column Wrap is a custom-fitted, impact-absorbing cover for parking garage columns and walls. It has two jobs. It protects the structure and the vehicles that brush against it, and its printed surface carries color, wayfinding, tenant branding or advertising.

The wrap is made to order for each structure. Every project begins with a survey, so the wrap fits the exact column rather than approximating it. The sections below cover how the product is built, how it compares with other column protection, how installation works and what to ask before you buy.

How the Wrap Is Built

The wrap has two functional layers:

  • Interior: commercial-grade foam, custom fit to the column or wall. The foam is what absorbs contact. Cingo describes it as a blend of premium, ultra-absorbent foam materials made with its own manufacturing technique.
  • Exterior: a smooth, highly opaque, flexible commercial-grade PVC banner. This is the printed surface. It can carry any color, text and images.

The materials are specified as water resistant, fire retardant and extremely durable. The wrap attaches with no drilling or fixtures, and each one is fitted to its column to limit movement that could cause wear.

Sizes and Shapes

  • Shapes: square, rectangular, beveled, oval, round, hexagonal and octagonal columns, in any size
  • Height: typically 5 feet, with a maximum of 8 feet
  • Coverage: columns and walls

Five feet is a working choice, not an arbitrary one. It keeps the printed surface at eye level and covers the zone where mirrors, bumpers and door edges of large SUVs, trucks and vans actually meet the column.

How Column Wraps Compare With Other Protection

There is no single best way to protect a column. The right choice depends on the impact you are protecting against. Industry guides, including DAMOTECH’s comparison of structural column protector materials, group the options into three styles: polymer or foam wrap-around cushions, rigid steel cages and hybrid steel-and-polymer frames.

OptionHow it protectsLimits
Foam core with PVC cover (Cingo)Absorbs low-speed contact and protects the vehicle as well as the column. Printable surface. Not a crash barrier. Designed for parking-speed contact.
Steel bollard or cageResists heavy impact and can protect against high-energy hits.Steel bends on impact and does not return to shape. Hard surface can damage vehicles. Not printable.
Rigid polymer guardFlexes under impact and returns to shape.Hard surface can still mark vehicles. Limited graphics.
Paint and concrete patching onlyRepairs damage after it happens.Reactive. The column and the vehicle both take the hit.

The practical split: use engineered barriers where a vehicle can build speed, and use foam-core wraps where the risk is the constant low-speed contact that wears down columns and vehicles in ordinary parking. Many garages use both. For the cost side of that decision, see the maintenance math on column protection versus concrete repair.

How a Project Works

Cingo runs the project end to end:

  1. Survey. The structure is surveyed and measured so each wrap fits its column or wall.
  2. Design. Custom print and design: color, wayfinding, branding or advertiser artwork.
  3. Production. Each wrap is printed and produced to the measured dimensions.
  4. Shipping and installation. Delivered and installed on site. Cingo describes installation as quick, minimizing downtime and disruption to operations.
  5. Testing. Quality is tested on location to confirm fit and performance.

Before you start, confirm timelines for your project, the plan for working around live traffic, and the documentation you need for local permits and fire-safety review. Those details depend on your structure and your municipality.

Lifespan, Maintenance and Graphics

Cingo’s estimated lifespan for the wrap is 10 to 20 years. Maintenance is minimal and the surface is easy to clean. The wrap is built as a replaceable component. A dated or faded graphic can be reprinted, and a damaged section can be replaced, without work on the concrete underneath. That is why a wrap can change with the property: new tenant, new season, new sponsor.

What the Wrap Protects

  • Columns and walls from scrapes, scuffs and repeated contact
  • Vehicles from scratches, dings and minor abrasions, including valet, rental-car and other hired-vehicle traffic where liability is a concern
  • Drivers and pedestrians, since bright, branded columns are easier to see and reduce accidental contact
  • Visitor experience, through clearer wayfinding and reserved-parking identification at the entrance to a bay instead of on a dim back wall

Protection Plus Revenue

Because the exterior is a full-color printed surface, a wrap that protects a column can also carry paid advertising. The protection pays for itself first, and the advertising is upside. Questions · Answered

Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers for parking garage owners, operators and developers.

01

How much does a Cingo column wrap cost installed?

+

Cingo does not publish a price list. Each project is custom: it starts with a survey of the structure, then custom design, printing, production, shipping and installation, so cost depends on the number of columns, their shapes and sizes, and the artwork. Contact Cingo with your column count and garage details to get a project quote.

02

What are Cingo column wraps made of?

+

Two layers. The interior is commercial-grade foam that is custom fitted to the column or wall. The exterior is a smooth, highly opaque, flexible commercial-grade PVC banner that can be printed in any color, including text and images.

03

Are Cingo column wraps fire retardant and water resistant?

+

Cingo specifies the materials as water resistant and fire retardant. Fire and signage requirements vary by municipality, so ask for the supporting documentation and confirm with your local building or fire authority before installation.

04

Do the wraps require drilling into the columns?

+

No. Cingo states that no drilling or fixtures are needed to attach the wrap to the structure. Because each wrap is custom fitted to its column, there are no anchor holes to patch in the concrete. Ask Cingo to confirm the removal method for your specific surface.

05

What column shapes and sizes can be wrapped?

+

Wraps are custom made to fit square, rectangular, beveled, oval, round, hexagonal and octagonal columns, in any size. Walls can be protected as well.

06

How tall is a column wrap?

+

Wraps are typically manufactured to 5 feet in height, with a maximum of 8 feet. That height keeps the graphic at eye level for visibility and protects the zone that large SUVs, trucks and vans actually contact.

07

How long do the wraps last?

+

Cingo’s estimated lifespan is 10 to 20 years with minimal maintenance. Graphics can be reprinted and replaced during that time without touching the structure underneath.

08

Can a wrap stop a vehicle that hits a column at speed?

+

No. The wrap is designed to absorb impact at parking speeds, protecting both the vehicle and the column from scratches, dings and minor abrasions. It is not a crash barrier. Locations that face high-speed impact risk, such as ramp ends, need engineered barriers or bollards.

09

How are the wraps cleaned and maintained?

+

They are described as minimal-maintenance and easy to clean. Routine upkeep is cleaning the printed surface and inspecting for damage. If a section is damaged or the graphic is dated, it can be replaced or reprinted.

10

Who handles measuring and installation?

+

Cingo does. The end-to-end custom project includes a survey of the structure, custom print and design, production and fit, shipping and installation.

11

Can the wraps carry advertising or branding?

+

Yes. The exterior can be printed in any color with text and images, so the same wrap that protects a column can carry tenant branding, wayfinding, reserved-parking identification or paid advertising. See the guide to column wrap advertising for how that works.
